COMMISSURA

Commissura is a work that takes place in a world of manually operated elevators, moving audience banks, lowering speakers, lifting people and floating pianos where the audience orient themselves to confrontations of duet-ness and its inherent tension between union and individualism. Dense with partnering work and a deep sense of two, this piece is an embracing of what it means to be a Duet Artist. This work was supported by a Chicago Dancemakers Forum Lab Artist Grant and a residency at The Ragdale Foundation.

“I’ve never seen a dance with so many moving parts… a world unto itself, complete yet infinite despite its purposeful isolation from the everyday.”

“The passionate, intimate, ingeniously staged Commissura set this ghostly place on fire.”
