BIO

Grace Needlman (they/she) is a Chicago-based cultural worker and maker exploring collective imagination and creative agency. Grace’s puppet designs have appeared productions including Beatrix Potter Holiday Tea Party (Chicago Children’s Theatre); House of the Exquisite Corpse (Rough House); Old Country (Steppenwolf Theatre); Somewhere Over the Border (Teatro Vista); Puppet Wonder Wagon (Pivot Arts Festival, Night Out in the Parks); Wake Up Brother Bear (Chicago Children’s Theatre); Once Upon an Symphony: Bremen Musicians (Chicago Symphony Orchestra), Ubu the King (Rough House), and more. As Co-Director of the Chicago Puppet Lab and a Rough House company member, Grace works to foster equitable pathways for puppet artists in Chicago. Grace graduated with a BA in fine art from Yale University and an MA in Contemporary Art Theory from Goldsmiths University of London.
